Maybe you have heard . . . we are getting ready for one heckuva adventure. In just four days we are flying to Los Angeles to frolick around and have five days of southern California style family fun (yes, Disney is part of the plan) and then on the 19th Ben and I will climb aboard an Air New Zealand plane and depart for Australia. Am I excited? You bet, I am so excited I am having trouble sleeping. I get to see all of my host family and friends and my host sister Tracey is getting married and my niece is in Australia right now as well. It's summertime there, the beaches are beckoning, there are fresh prawns and sausage rolls and lamingtons to be devoured with glee. But am I nervous? Oh yeah. I am so tingling with anxiety over the sheer thought of being on a plane alone with Ben (and in one seat, mind you) for 15+ hours that it's becoming like a nervous tic. Heh heh heh.
So I am dealing with the excitement and anxiety by frittering around, trying to act prepared. Making lists, making neat little piles of things. (Note the Benadryl on the list above. Ahem.) The other night I couldn't sleep so I went into the bathroom and dumped out the entire contents of both of my toiletries bags. It was sort of satisfying, if realizing that you have way too many teeny tiny bottles of shampoo can be satisfying. Actually, I've been having a bit of fun doing some food-based research via this website. (C'mon, it's me here, do you think I am going to go half way around the world and not sleuth out a few food joints?)
Anyhow, I hope to be able to post from Australia, or perhaps I'll email Ted a few photos and he can post them. For now I am going to go stare at the shoes in my closet and decide which ones are coming with. And continue being excited and nervous.
