When I am blue or in a funk two things that help pull me out of the dark place are riding my bike and being near water. So this past week, when feeling rather jacked up, I ended up riding my bike to my new favorite beach. A double whammy approach. And you know what? It worked, three hours later, as the sun was starting to go down, I was breathing somewhat normally again. The tightness in my chest was gone. I was actually relaxed and my mind felt at ease. It also helped immensely that Ben called me into the water and we splashed and slithered and jumped around the cool lake for at least 30 minutes. So it's not a complicated equation: bike + beach + play = joy & calm.
